I know the line is interesting. The problem is I am not sure what the best move is after something like
1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 Bg4 3. Ne5 Bf5 4. c4 f6 5. Nf3 e6 6. Qb3 Nc6 when I think Black has chances. It is either:
1) 7. c5
2) 7. Qxb7
3) 7. cxd5
Whgat does the World think?

I'm sorry. I know that hating the dragon is a little harsh (and I have a 100% record with it in tournament play My secret - only play it once!). I like the dragon really because I bash it up with the Levenfish or 3. Bb5+!

I suppose it would have been OK if I would have called myself ' I hate the Caro-Kann' (my pet opening) but as soon as I say I hate the Dragon there is worldwide outrage (well, almost!).  Angry

nothing about the line (but it is interesting) but I wanted to say I am offended and I am sure many more people are when you call yourself I "hate" (a little too harsh) the dragon (the best opening there is.  I know that is still a tiny bit controversial)

An interesting idea. What about 3. Ne5 Bf5 4. c4 f6 5. Nf3 e6 6. Qb3 Nc6 7. c5 stopping Nb4?

Perhaps 3. c4 comes into consideration too.

What do you think of 1.d4 d5 2. Nf3 Bg4!? I cannot be bothered playing normal boring stuff after 2. Nf3. It was played in a World Championship match (Steinitz - Chigorin, Havana 1889) and doesn't look to bad to me. A taste of how this crazy reversed Tromp line could go is 3. Ne5 Bf5! (3...Bh5 4. Qd3!) 4. c4 (4. g4 Bc8!) f6 5. Nf3 e6 6. Qb3 Nc6 and now Black can at least force a draw after 7. Qxb7 Nb4 8. Na3 Rb8 9. Qxa7 Ra8 10.Qb7 Rb8 (10...Rxa3!? could be an interesting way to play on) 11. Qa7 Ra8 etc.
