I have played the Danish/Göring with 4.Nxc3 for several years in the 80's, with great
success now and then. It is really necessary to study the transpositions to the Göring
proper. White's main ideas are the direct attack against f7 with Qb3 and/or Ng5 and
opening the e-file with e4-e5. Black's best defense is 4.Nxc3 Nc6 5.Bc4 Bb4 6.Nf3 d6 but
here White might try 6.Nge2 with the plan o-o and f4.
The big advantage of 1.e4 e4 2.d4 exd4 3.c3 is the option d5 4.exd5 Qxd5 5.cxd4 Nc6 and
now 6.Be3 avoiding the boring Capablanca defense. Another big advantage is that White
avoids the Petrov defense.

White doesn't have to play the boring 7. Bxf7+. What about 7. Nc3!?

the main line Danish goes 1.e4 e5  2.d4 ed  3.c3 dc  4.Bc4 cb  5.Bxb2 d5  6.Bxd5 Nf6  7.Bxf7+ Kxf7  8.Qxd8 Bb4+  9.Qd2 Bxd2  10.Nxd2  with a relatively even position. Smiley

I'm always happier when
I'm a pawn down.

After the exchange on b2 White normally plays Nf3 and Nc3, and if Black plays Bb4 then White goes Qc2 or b3 and O-O-O, if Black plays d6 first then White castles kingside and plays Ng5 hitting f7. Often Blacks tries to prevent this with Be6, when White plays Bxe6 and then Ng5,f4,f5. Also e5 opening the position up is a common idea, and tactic on f7 are also important.

This is just a quick guide, of course in such a tactical opening concrete lines are all important.

This is the Danish gambit, although after 4...Nc6 5.Nf3 it transposes to the Goring gambit. More normal would 4.Bc4 sacrificing the second pawn, which is generally considered to be more dangerous for black. As far as I know after 4.Bc4 the position is theoretically unclear, while after 4.Nc3 black probably gets a slight edge. The most annoying lines for white involve d5, e.g. 3...d5 4.exd5 Qxd5 5.cxd4 Nc6 6.Nf3 Bg4 7.Nc3 Bb4 8.Be2 Bxf3 9.Bxf3 Qc4 10.Bxc6+ bxc6 11.Qe2+ Qxe2+ 12.Kxe2 Ne7 13.Be3 O-O-O which is equal/slightly better for black.

I want to play this line:

1.e4 e5
2.d4 exd4
3.c3 dxc3
4.Nxc3

How good is it against 1500-2000 opposition, my playing style i maniacal, tactical and "sacrefice all my pieces" before checkmate.

Watch out for the vikings! well, It's only me is on it's way in the mail, can't wait until i get my hand on it, AJ Miles rock my world... in chess.
