Heather,
I recomend 2 sites for you each are hands on, not books

#1. http://www.chesslab.com/positionsearch
#2. http://www.chessgames.com

Chess games dot com today 5/2/04 is highlighting the
Catalan.
Hopefully this will help you figure out on your own which
GM/ Author is correct.
Chess lab has a extensive data base and gives you an
idea what other players have done in various positions,
and in some cases, will give plus and minus
percentages for each move. And give you several moves
too.
Good luck,

Midnight

I also asked this question on the Flank OPenings Forum. I was recommended to either:
1. PLay ...dxc4 and ...Nc6
2. Play a Closed Catalan with Be7, 0-0, c6, Nbd7, b6, Bb7, Rc8 and c5.
3. PLay a Dutch set-up with c6, Ne4 and f5

I have been enjoying the repertoire of "Meeting 1d4" by Jacob Aagaard/Esben Lund, but I have come up against a problem and wondered if anyone can please help me??? The authors state that you just play the Tarrasch against the Catalan,  but according to John Watson at Jeremy Silmans site, this is not the case   as "several of White's legitimate chances to deviate are not considered". Can anyone shed any light on this as I am very confused about how to meet the Catalan?  ??? ??? ???
