By the way, I think this probabyl belongs under Flank Openings, as it is really transposes to a line from the Symmetrical English (1.c4 c5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.d4).  Undecided

Yes - against that specific move order you can play 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.Nf3 cxd4 4.Nxd4 e5!? 5.Nb5! d5! 6.cxd5 Bc5 (not 6...Nxd5?? 7.Qxd5! Qxd5 8.Nc7+ +-), which is a well-known pawn sacrifice.

Very often Black can win his pawn back eventualyl no d5, but the real idea is to go ...e5-e4 and build up long-term pressure on the kingside.

The move you suggest, 4...b6!? is also good, although White can still go for a Maroczy set-up after 5.Nc3 Bb7 6.f3 and 7.e4.  But this is quite a good Hedgehog for black and he can choose whether to play ...e6 and ...Be7 or go for a double fianchetto set-up with ...g6 and ...Bg7.

Another (!) alternative is to play 3...cxd4 4.Nxd4 e6 5.Nc3 Bb4!?

How can we defeat Maroczy?

I like the Benko Gambit very very much and I afraid to play against it. So, every time I meet Benony I transpose it into Maroczy bind. I know that Maroczy Bind is a very powerful weapon against the dragon.
     - How can we play to defeat the dragon with the Maroczy?
     - Does anybody know how can we play against it?     Is there any modern way?

1.d4 2.Nf6 3.c4 c5 4.Nf3 cxd4 5.Nxd4 Nf6 6.Nc3 Nc6 7.e4 g6 we have the famous Maroczy Bind. Does anybody know any way in this move order that we can avoid Maroczy, as black of course? Maybe 4..b6?
