It's basically a positional blunder - there's no immediate refutation. Joe Gallagher, in "Starting Out: the King's Indian", says that it's bad because it weakens White's influence on d4, although he doesn't give any supporting analysis. In addition, a knight coming in to c5 or b4 will hit the bishop with gain of tempo.

I once met it in a server game at Chessworld.net, and I got a decent position after 6...e5 7.Be3 Na6 8.a3 Ng4.

Since d4 is a little weaker than normal I would suggest that 6...Bg4 is a good reply.  Black can usually follow up with ...Nc6, ...e5 or maybe even ...Nh5 in some cases.  Compare the variations used by Black in the 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Bd3 0-0 6.Nge2 line.

1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 g6 3 Nc3 Bg7 4 e4 d6 5 Nf3 O-O 6 Bd3

None of my sources mention this move nor do the databases provide any games.   Undecided

To add to matters, my computer finds no tactical reason why this move is bad. 

Strategically, it looks faulty, but for what reason is this move never seen?  Is there anything immediate or is it simply a positional blunder?
