Especially because this is also a more or less 'universal reply'...

Now I would have thought that someone who goes for the Bangiev-repertoire with White would love the Bangiev-repertoire with Black (Philidor or Lion)...

Spanish with f5 is certainly a good option, though I would do it after  e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 a6 4 Ba4 d6 5 c3 f5. Though playing 1 e4 e5 may have the disadvantage that it is you who gets attacked on the kingside with a king's gambit or Giuoco. Other 1st moves imo can stabilise the center, but will give little initiative on the kingside like the French and CaroKann. While others first have the disadvantage that the center is fluent (in the sicilian) or you get a disadvantage in space (Pirc and Alekhine).
But if you like the d3 e4 f4 setup, the mirror image with e6 d5 and c5 may appeal, which is what you get with the french, though to be fair you wont usually get a kingside attack going in the first 15 moves Undecided

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

I'm not sure I understand how you don't fight for the centre when you have pawns on d3,e4,f4: that's some pretty nice real estate, but if I understand correctly, you're more interested in creating lines of attack on the kingside.  I'm not sure you really have that luxury with Black against e4, though you might try the Schliemann variation of the Ruy Lopez (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 f5).  The theory is more geared to play in the centre, and I can't vouch for the soundness of the Schliemann, but it's not a bad little opening, especially for blitz play.

Hello,
I do with the white pieces feel well with a setup that include e4+Nc3+d3+f4 (Vienna Game, Grand-Prix-attaque, King Gambite). I dont fight for center control, I better close the center and attack kingside.
I score also very good with it (internet blitz: 75 wins, 30 loss).

I dont see anything comparable with the black pieces against e4, do you experts do?
