and why didn't you post this under d-pawn specials where this question is debated to extinction?! 

If you yourself already consider the BDG 'a daring defence' then it's hardly surprising that the titled guys avoid it like the plague is it?  Grin

why is the Blackmar-Diemer played so rarely at higher levels? There doesn't seem to be any particularly safe line for Black - or am I missing something here. White seems to get a ferocious attack for his pawn - it seems a good choice if you need to win a game. It's usage seems to be more for its surprise value. 

Are there any lines for Black that would make White wonder if his winning chances are worth giving up a pawn for?
