	I'm blanking on the name of the opening for White that goes: 1.e4 c5 2.c3 d6 3.Bd3 (is it the Kopec System?), but it seems like the idea is better when Black plays the same idea! If White spends time on d2-d3-d4, then Black should be happy to play Bc7 and d5 with a reasonable game. So Richard, I think your idea of ignoring Black and developing in the center makes much more sense. Of course these are fresh positions and the player with the better plan and sense of where his pieces belong will win. I like GM Gurevich's ideas in general, and while this is a bit baroque, I may try it out. Thanks to all for pointing this one out!

	After 1.e4 e6 2.d3 c5 3.g3 look logical too. Planning 3...d5 4.Nd2 or if Black doesn't play ...d5 soon then Bg2 and Nc3 with a closed sicilian. Nothing super-threatening but a viable solution if those variations are in your White repertoire.

	Ahh, I see. Gurevich is a French player so his SOS deals with contronting the KIA, not playing it. Thank.

	Mikhail Gurevich writes an excellent article on 1 e4 e6 2 d3 c5! 3 Nf3 Nc6 4 g3 Bd6!?. The idea is to drop the bishop back to c7, while White's best course appears to be to change tack and advance with d4. Perhaps though the Kaufman endorsed 4 c3 and an early Be3 is a better moveorder?

	There is a new book from the New In Chess publishers, another edition of their Secrets of Opening Surprises (SOS). One of the surprises is in the King's Indian Attack (KIA), which I play. Could someone please tell me what this novelty is? Thanks.
