I am guessing, but I think Mnb is a Feyenoord fan. They are usually very anti-Ajax. I used to have this colleague who was a Feyenoord fan and we used to exchange some nice emails on monday if there had been a nice result by either. I did notice however he was very often ill on the monday after a FEyenoord-Ajax match

Another thing I was wondering about. Why in the hell do teams like Liverpool and Chelsea spend so much money on players like Duff, Robben and Crouch if they intend to play 4-5-1 anyway. As one of the commentators here put it: "I dont get the impression I am looking at some superstars. It is more like watching a relegation duel".

BtW the foul on Hyppia was indeed a penalty and I had the impression the other was a penalty as well. Then again yesterday with PSV the center forward got 2 yellows in 5 minutes. One for hands in the penalty box (which is obvious) and one for holding a player's shirt a bit too obvious in the middle circle (!). These were the only 2 yellows, while some major fouls (among which things like kicking and tackles on the ankles) were left unpunished, but were whistled for. So it can always be worse

That's only good news. Ajax needs about ten losses against one win to keep it's arrogance under control.

Well, the more impartial commentators on swedish tv last night all agreed that it was an obvious penalty...

Anyway, since you keep mentioning that lucky win of yours    I certainly hope we play Holland in Germany next year - hopefully in the final so we're sure to win! 

Well, both the 'Swedish' goal were very pretty! (i.e. Malmö FF - Halmstad 1-1) 

The penality shot was indeed lucky as the goalie should have taken it if he'd remained standing or thrown himself the other way... Actually, how come that the goalies generally don't remain standing? As this was proclaimed to be the best strategy at penalties according to a (dutch?) survey published just before the latest Euro Ch, if my memory serves me...

Considering how longwinded and toothless Ajax played in the first half, Arsenal fully deserved the win imo.

Well, I support Crystal Palace (my nearest team when I was growing up), but now I have moved into central London, Chelsea are my nearest team (marginally closer to me than Fulham and QPR).  So really, in a match like this, I have to back Chelsea.  Sorry S_F 

I remember a brief period during the early to mid eighties where Everton all of a sudden had a real burst of form .League Winners, FA Cups & Cup Winners Cup etc. Kevin Sheedy really had a nasty left foot, Andy Gray & Graeme Sharp scoring regularly & Neville Southall being at peak form in goal. Its kinda sad to see them where they are now even tho im not a supporter.  It was remarkable to see them getting a champions league place despite having no real stars in the team.

On a seperate note, I'm quite surprised to see West Ham doing really well at the moment. Wigan being a minnows team maintaining a mid table posn currently is impressive.

I think its really good for football as a whole when the lesser teams outperform or hold their own against the bigger boys if not the real big ones. It proves money, status & bigger egos dont necessarily translate into winning matches.

@Smyslov - whats with your attraction to Wigan if i may ask?
