Hmmm....

Halfway through the first group stages in the Champions' League, three groups are headed by English teams and the English team not in clear first is Liverpool, tied with Chelsea.  Italy has two teams, Germany one, and so on.

Why Greek heroes, are there really no dutch heroes???

If you have to name a team after someone, I'd prefer e.g: 'Anne Frank' or 'Team Timman' to any god, nine days a week.

No we're luckily not named after a sponsor, we are not Bayer Leverkusen or PSV after all.
Ajax is over a 100 years old and named after the Greek hero. We've got a couple of clubs with names like that: Sparta, Excelsior, Fortuna and Heracles. Personally I like them better than placenames or brandnames.

The way I see it 1st place is already a given. Dont see anyone passing Chelsea unfortunately. And you have to be fair, Ajax is more important than any other football thing

I had to re-read the topic heading after seeing the last few posts.  What, do the Dutchies here think nobody would read a thread about Dutch league soccer? 

Ok, so I actually enjoy some talk about the other leagues.  But Liverpool just won against Blackburn and Chelsea is having a record breaking run at the start of the season.  Everyone's ignoring Liverpool right now which is just fine.  We've played two games fewer than many of the other teams, and we are still doing fine in Europe (I guess I should check on how we did today, huh?)

Anyway, enough ranting against the Dutch.  Last time I suggested that the Dutch had a great World Champion chess player I got egged by the Dutch fans because I didn't agree he was the best!   Now, I expect them to throw the whole chicken at me!

The result must have been traumatic for Willempie given that he already seems to be in a state of denial.

Well as far as i'm concerned... The Ajax game was another disappointing football result apart from the Newcastle game. 

The exploits of Team Renault F1 adding the constructor's title to the Driver's title on Sunday sure makes up for the sheer disappointment in the footballing sense last weekend. I'm still riding on a high! ooooHHH! That sure sounds like escapism all of a sudden
