IMHO , it's a little brother of Smyslov's 9...h6
probably , the 2 lines have many things in common

You really should get the Anand2 book. Khalifman suggests a standard Ruy procedure with d5 for white. I havent looked at it closely yet though.

I just had a look at the slightly rare Closed RL variation
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.0-0 Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 d6 8.c3 0-0 9.h3 Qd7!? and consider taking it up. There are not a lot of games (50 in the old database I have at my job), but some of the black players are RL Experts (among others Smyslov and Zaitsev).

It seems Black plans to play ...Bb7 at some point, but first would like to play ...Re8, ...Bf8, and possibly ...g6 and ...Bg7. Ng5 can always be met with ...Nd8 (and later either ...h6 or ...Ne6).

Do anyone have information on this line?
(mainline, model games, annotated games, name of variation etc.) All information appreciated!
