Instead of 9...Qa5 10.gxf3 , isn't there also 10.Ke2 Kh8 11.Rhg1? (which is probably still a good idea in the NCO sequence you quote).

I think that's actually the first game with this variation that I ever saw in 2003 (it was in an article on the Bundesliga season):
Savchenko,S (2560) - Schmittdiel,E (2483) [A85]
Bundesliga 0304 Germany (11), 10.2003
1.d4 f5 2.c4 Nf6 3.Nf3 e6 4.Nc3 d5 5.Bf4 c6 6.e3 Be7 7.Bd3 0-0 8.Qc2 Ne4 9.g4 Qa5 10.Ke2 Na6 11.a3 Nxc3+ 12.bxc3 dxc4 13.Bxc4 b5 14.Ba2 Nc7 15.Bxc7 Qxc7 16.gxf5 c5 17.Qe4 c4 18.fxe6 Bb7 19.d5 Rad8 20.Rad1 Qc5 21.Bb1 g6 22.Rhg1 Rf6 23.Ng5 Bxd5 24.Qh4 Bf3+ 25.Nxf3 Rxd1 26.Ng5 h6 27.Qxh6 Rd2+ 28.Ke1 1-0
Ever since I've enjoyed playing that as white, however this night I failed to win the following game against a promising youngster, which is very similar, I suppose.
1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 c6 3.d4 e6 4.Qc2 f5 5.Bf4 Nf6 6.e3 Bd6 7.Bxd6 Qxd6 8.Bd3 0-0 9.Nc3 Ne4 10.g4 Na6 11.a3 c5 12.gxf5 cxd4 13.Nxd4 Nac5 14.Bxe4 dxe4 15.Nxe4 Nxe4 16.Qxe4 exf5 17.Qd5+ Qxd5 18.cxd5 Bd7 19.Ke2 Rfe8 20.f4 Rac8 21.Rac1 Kf7 22.Rxc8 Rxc8 23.Rd1 Ke7 24.Kf3 Kd6 25.e4 fxe4+ 26.Kxe4 g6 27.Rd2 Rc5 28.h4 Rc1 29.Nf3 Bf5+ 30.Ke3 Rc5 31.Ng5 Rc7 32.Rd4 Rc2 33.Nf7+ Kd7 34.d6 Rxb2 35.Ne5+ Kd8 36.d7 Rb3+ 37.Kd2 Be6 38.a4 Rb6 39.Ke3 Rb3+ 40.Ke4 Bf5+ 41.Kd5 Rb6 42.Kc5 Be6 43.Rd2 Ra6 44.Rd4 Ra5+ ½-½
Well, not the finest display of endgame technique...

One question general, one specific. Firstly, I keep getting killed as white in the lines after 1. d4 f5 2. c4 Nf6 3. Nc3 e6 4. Nf3 d5 5. Bf4 c6 6. e3 Be7 7. Bd3 0-0 8. Qc2 Ne4 9. g4!. These lines are supposed to be +/-, but none of my opponents care much--they just keep mowing me down. Usually my king gets into trouble in the middle, and maybe the problem is just that all the games are blitz and even if white does have +/-, it's easy to screw up and end up in -/+ or worse. Does anyone have experience with these lines? By the way, I find the lines after 6. ...Bd6 7. Bd3 0-0 8. 0-0 Ne4 9. Qc2 Bxf4 (and other similar lines) to be fairly easy to play and win.

My specific question is this: In NCO white is supposed to have +/- (page 114) after  9. g4! Qa5 10. gxf5 gxf5 11. cxd5 cxd5 12. Ke2, when white threatens Nxd5. Fritz 8 simply recommends 12. ...Kh8 or 12. ...Be6 and gives the position to be equal, and teetering on =+. Certainly if white doesn't have anything concrete in the position I'm not sure I want to be the one with a king stuck in the middle of the board. What am I missing in this position?

Thanks.
