	I have analyzed the position and have come to the conclusion that 8.Qe2?! is not very good because of 8. ... Nc6 (the standard reply to Qe2 in this variation). On 9.d5 black answers 9. ... Nd4 10.Qd3 Bf5! 11.Ne4 0-0-0 and black is better. So the only way for white to fight for an advantage is 8.Nge2. In one game Eric replied 8. ... e6 9.0-0 Bb4 and now white should play 10.Be3 followed by Qd3 with a (in my opinion) better position. Eric, did I guess righty that your idea on 10.a3?! was Bc3:! 11.Bc3: Bb5! =/=+ or 11.bc3: Bb5!! 12.Rb1 Bc4: 13.Rb6: ab6: when black may even be better because I don't see any sensible play for white.

	Indeed Eric, the idea of 6...Bd7 or 7.g4 Bd7 8.Bc4 (which transposes to 6...Bd7) did not come to my mind I quickly examined the online database and even found two of your games playing 6...Bd7. Both games continued 7.Bc4 Qb6 and now both of your opponents played 8.Nge2. I wonder if 8.Qe2!? is an improvement here, as it is similar to lines already mentioned, with the only difference that the bishop is on d7 instead of g6. I haven't had the time to look at this yet to see if the difference is significant, but be sure that I will investigate this more thoroughly

	So it seems I have amended most of your lines, Christoph, when they transposed after 5.Bc4 Bg4! As for 5.Bd2 Bg4! (I also like to play with punctuation ) Didn't I say : "Maybe next" ? And I am aware the 6.f3 Bf5 7.g4 Bg6? 8.f4 problem. That is why I have often prudently retreated immediately with 6...Bd7 you do not cover or 6...Bf5 7.g4 Bd7.

	I think that 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 4.d4 Nf6 5.Bd2 Bg4 6.f3 Bf5 7.g4 Bg6 8.f4 is a serious problem for black, I think 8...e6 9.Qe2 Be7 10.f5! is just horrible for black (for some reason 10.Bg2 was mostly played so far). Something messy with 9...Nc6 is probably black's best try, but what should one really think about 10.Nb5!? Bb4 11.f5 a6 12.c3!?... I really wouldn't like to be black here.

	dont get it - wont ...Bg4 transpose and after f3 Bf5 Bc4 something like Nbd7!?

	Hello all, with interest I examined GM Prie's work about the Scandinavian Defence. I'd like to discuss some lines that I have analyzed myself. My main idea is 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 4.d4 Nf6 5.Bd2!? In my opinion, Black has nothing better than to transpose into the main lines with 5...c6 and ...Bf5; alternatives are 5...Nc6, 5...Qb6 and 5...Bg4 - but I think White gets good play in all of those. My analysis can be viewed at http://www.schachmaterialien.de/Skandinavisch/einleitungt0.htm (german only so far, but should be understandable). I'd like your opinions
