Ok...that was the best day of chess I've ever seen.

All the games were exciting and very well played (except that last blunder...)
Great defense in game 1 by Kramnik, terrific precision in game 2, then excellent play by Topalov in game 3.
But, in the end, hubris caught up to Topalov.

After claiming Kramnik wasn't even in his class, Topalov has went down hard.
His team was juvenile throughout, he got a free point as black, 3 whites in a row, and then still lost.
His last blunder was the hand of justice.
Caissa's final touch on a veryembarassing match for Topalov.

We finally have a unified champ!  And one who is professional, well-spoken, and a gentleman.
Hurray for Kramnik!

Nietzsche

ps - Does anyone know how the match will affect their ratings? I think Kramnik will be in sole possesion of #2.  But can anyone actually figure out the numbers?

Right, down the offie for a bottle of champagne for my long-suffering office. Bet I get ripped off - very Nick Hornby.

Looking forward hugely to Topalov's press conference. 'Not so full of yourself now, are you?', as Mark Ferguson says when he refutes one of my moves.

I can't say that Kramnik was better than Topalov in this match, but given the cirmumstances, it was good that Kramnik won.

Got to go guys. Missing climax. To me it looks like Kramnik is unified WC and Keano's kid sister can give a check mate to Topalov! (Hope so)

Polgar thinks white should win this at classical time-control.

Looks very good for White from the diagram - Rb5 and so on.

31...Rf5 32 f3 Re5; what is that - looks like panic, almost. Black can't go for activity like this, can he? Where's that rook going from e5?

Susan P 'doubts Topalov could hold this at a classical control'.

Going a bit far. 31...Rb1 looks right to me now, then if the a-pawn moves after the exchange ...Ba2 ties White down to the c-pawn.
