Draw now official - interesting ending. In the big picture though this is a great result for Kramnik, he has 3 Whites to come now, I am sure Topalov was going all out to win today, as it happened in the end he did well to draw it.

Quite the display so far by Kramnik. Topalov's Qf3 retreat and g3 didnt help I think, but he just couldnt seem to find a point to punch into.

Fine, yes, but not as good as I'd hoped for a moment. Still, huge blow for Topalov. He gets his prep and still can't lay a glove on Kramnik, indeed at best almost loses. Only two whites to go. If Kramnik just stays cool and keep a straight bat, I'm hopeful.

I guess White doesn’t fall for that: he goes 45 Kg2 or something and has counterplay: it’s hard for Black to break that pin without playing g6 and then White will surely draw once the pawns are split and he’s eliminated his h5 weakness. What about 44…Kh7? 45 Bd3 Nf6, perhaps – is …e5….e4 a threat? But Black isn’t threatening to take h5 anyway – maybe White just takes on a6 now, or Ra8.

Actually, I’m coming round to White. Maybe his drawing chances are greater than Black’s winning chances after all.

Castlerock, I don’t think the question is whether Kramnik has a draw, but whether White has drawing chances and if so how. White’s e1 bishop is a terrible piece and Black seems to be forcing further exchanges without White acquiring any compensating activity. I don’t see a good move for White: if he moves the bishop is even ….Nd3 possible, meeting Rd1 with …Nxe5?

Excellent - Topalov settling down for a long think after the time control. Classic sign of a player surveying the wreck he's made of his position during the scramble - not that there was one really, but still.

I have hopes here: if Vlad can convert this then the match is surely close to over even with the point start for Topalov.
