	I just tuned in to the game. Looks to me like White has a space advantage, but Black seems to be OK (maybe slightly worse). At the very least, I think we will not see a repeat of the game 9 rout.

	I was thinking Topalovs plan was simple Be3,Bd3 and then f5 - BUT Kramnik can revert to the Kamsky plan then ...Nh5, ...f5, and the king has a nice square on f7. The next few moves must be critical, if something like this can happen Kramnik must be fine....

	Hard to imagine Kramnik can keep the king in the centre indefinitely though, but Topalov needs to arrange some action - I suppose ideally he wants to play f4-f5 but to be able to recapture with the Bishop.

	Positionally White might want to play 18.b5 now, but then maybe the ...Nxc5 trick comes. Looks like he´ll have to consolidate things first.

	17...Qd7 looks a normal move, maybe intending ...Bd8-c7 so he can contest the e-file with a rook eventually. Maybe its not so bad, still it seems like not an easy position for Black to play.

	Only the c1 bishop is a bit in the way, for the rest white looks much better at least optically. PS wasnt there some major argument a while back that Khalifman had "copped out" with his choice of the Nh4 slave in the Kramnik opening books, because that wasnt the critical line? I guess these two put that out of the way with Kramnik completely neutralising Ne5 and having trouble against Nh4

	If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

	hmmm...the Kamsky plan looked interesting, but doubtful now with the Knight on e6. This looks like more good prep from Topalov team to me (Vallejo again?) as White has breaks on both sides of the board and good long-term plans. I just dont know why the Kramnik team decided to go into this again - well they obviously were expecting a3 again, but still.

	Well Keano it would not suprise me if you are right, it is just that I am a typical medocre club player who likes development. Probably why Ricard Pallister didnot recommend this Nh4 line, in his 1d4! book. Kramnik has gone for Nf8-e6, which I was looking at. Kamsky on ICC preferred Nh5 with f5 to follow.

	Where is John? - Kramnik should have taken his advice and played QGD! This looks very unpleasant, and he cannot afford to get squashed in a childish manner like the other game, so the next 10 moves are critical...

	MarinFan - I´d have to disagree - I cannot see much counterplay for Black here - meanwhile White has the two bishops and it is Black who will have the problem with the king - qside is out, and after going kside there are the eventual pawn breaks f5 or h5, but the main problem I see is lack of counterplay. I suppose with the a-file he can try to trade rooks, but even this I cannot see happening.

	Looks like Kramnik has done a good job against the new plan with Rb1. Not sure what white is aiming for, and all blacks pieces active, and the white king a little insecure. Probably equal, but would prefer black. Topalov has big time advantage again though...

	OK castlerock I understand where you are coming from, although I´m not sure Kramnik will have much choice but to accept whatever comes should he win!? Would be interesting to see what happens. Personally I know this is controversial but after seeing San Luis I would not object to a tournament like this every few years, but I´m not sure about it - death of the old match-play system would be sad. Anyway thats anothers day talk! For now the game has started and I am surprised Kramnik has gone in for this line again - it gives Topalov the type of position he is looking for.
