My database gave me 6.b3 cxb3 7.Qxc7 Na6 and where must the queen go? 8.Qf4 Bd6 9.Qa4+ Bd7 10.Qxb3 Qxb3 11.axb3 Nc5 and Black had a lead in development, Hulak-Sargissian, EUch Antalya 2004. But I also wonder if White will have enough for two pawns after 8...Nb4 ?

I haven't looked this position up at all, but I don't know why White should be afraid of it.  He can just castle immediately or regain the pawn with 6.b3.  I like the idea of playing in gambit style with 6.0-0 7.d3, and then figure out where the pieces go.  If Black were a real fish, he might miss that ...cxd3 in this type of position could lose the c7pawn and also possibly the R on a8 (or if played really badly, the King on e8!).

Alumbrado, I know you're not a fish and won't fall for any of that stuff, but still, I don't see why White should worry over Black taking a gambit pawn and then defending it with his Queen in the middle of the board.  Do you have a line after 6.0-0 or even after 6.b3 that White should know about?

This line is one of the reasons I believe White should insert 3.b3  Cool

If somone can show me a good order for Black after this I´ll be happy, since I know for some reason 3.b3 is not that popular, is the answer an early ...d4

I`ve been playing this on and off for a year now as black as a result of meeting it as white. Black`s play is good, but he must take care when white sacs with b3, d3 or d4 that the white pieces not get too active. I think that black should be more than ok if he does this.

Yes I too have read that book and this line isn't given much analysis. I think probably the best bet is to play b3 at some point (after Nc3) when you get open lines whether axb3 or qxb3 you have e4 and d4 coming and play down the b file (or a file) and a nice posts for your dark squared bishop (on a3). However the best line is porbably to just retrieve the pawn with Qa4+ (instead of Qc2) which generally leads to any equal game and there are many examples and lines unlike qc2.

but as I remember since I do not own the Davies book did he not recommend Nc3 after Qd5!  ? Since after Qf5 e4 Qa5 (Qh5 Ne2! I think this line was given in the book )there is no known reply but here I think b3 is by far whites best bet or  i might just be completely wrong since my memory could be failing me  Cheesy

This is strangely awkward.  Like Markovich, I would rather like to have my pawn at d4 already.  It's turned into something of an irrational anxiety that I enter a Catalan from 1 Nf3, but I seem to be desperate to get the d-pawn forward as soon as Black plays d7-d5, in order to avoid these kinds of puzzles.  Frankly, I don't see anything better than Markovich's suggestion, but I must admit I don't find it especially convincing.  Not insignificant compensation, but more lite beer than stout...

I have been looking more and more at Black's attempts to hold onto the pawn in the Open Réti after 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 e6 3.g3 dxc4!?

In particular, the line 4.Bg2 Nf6 5.Qc2 (Nigel Davies's recommendation in The Dynamic Réti) and now 5...Qd5!?, not mentioned by Davies, which looks awful but isn't easy to crack.

The idea is to meet Na3 with ...Bxa3 and otherwise just develop with ...Nbd7-b6 and Bc8-d7-c6.

Any thoughts on this?  Is there a way for White to exploit the position of the black queen?  Or even to regain the pawn without making significant concessions?

I have looked at this, but I'm at a loss for a good idea for White.  What I really don't like is that White's pawn isn't on d4 yet.  Annoying.  Perhaps White should forego play against c4 and play instead 6. Nc3, for example, 6...Qc5  7. d4 cxd3  8. Qxd3 with not entirely insignificant compensation for the pawn.
