@Nietzsche: using bootcamp I'm triple booting MacOSX, Linux and Windows XP with no problems.  Chessbase, Fritz etc all work perfectly Smiley

It's a lovely machine.

Right mouse click to annull a premove before it has been executed

Wow, it works, thanks!  Smiley

Do you know if that is a new feature or if this option has been there all along? I thought I had tried everything...  Shocked

Just a chessbase related question hope no one will mind the slight deviation...

When plaing on playchess.com one can make premoves (i.e. for example recapture a piece or pawn in advance should the opponent choose to take it) - but sometimes my mouse or me fumbles and the 'recapture' turns out to be e.g. ...b6 instead of bxc6.

So does anyone here know if there is a way to annull a premove?

If you dual-boot (i.e., use "boot camp" and buy a version of Windows to use with it) then there wouldn't be any problem: with this technique, any software written for windows will run without a performance penalty.  (You'll have to restart the computer to change from one OS to the other.)

If you tried to run it with a windows emulator (like Parallels or something similar), it'd run slower.

There's nothing special about chessbase software in this regard...

Do ChessBase programs run on the new MacBook?

Hello,

I was thinking of purchasing the new Apple notebook which runs both PC and Mac operating systems.
Since nearly ALL of the decent chess programs run on the PC, I was wondering if anyone has tried to use ChessBase or Fritz or similar programs on this new Mac.  Do they run alright or perhaps better?

Also, do the ChessBase DVDs play on this new setup.  I know the old PowerBook series could run the video (avi) portion but couldn't run the accompanying board.  The Mac notebooks are very popular but I don't know any serious chess players that use them.  I'm hoping these newer ones will allow me to use all the programs I love but enjoy the excellent Mac hardware.

Thanks,
Nietzsche

ps - I also emailed Apple about this, but thought I'd see if anyone here as already tried it out since Apple doesn't really develop serious chess programs and I doubt they'll know for certain if ChessBase programs run on their hardware.
