disastrous result against the Hammers - the fact they had just installed a new manager always helps with team motivation, but still it was a really bad game to lose. Only 2 points now between us and Chelski.

Ronaldo has improved his behaviour somewhat this year - I still think as a footballer he is still not the finished article though. His decision making has improved, but still a bit to go - no doubt he has great talent though.

As for Man U supporters and Beckham - I think we have a special realisation, having witnessed his efforts week after week, of his particular faults and why he was never capable of being a world-class player. He could not beat players, he had no pace, but perhaps most importantly of all he simply didnt put the effort in every week. The fans can see this, and that is why he got such a hard time. No amount of advertising contracts or whatever will make a footballer world-class, in his own mind maybe!

So it is possible, to be a ManU fan without being impressed by Beckham! Nice.
These days ManU is not the most popular English club in The Netherlands though, because of a certain Cristian Ronaldo   Angry.

Like today?  West Ham United 1, Manchester United 0    Wink

For some reason, I've always had a soft spot for the Hammers, though it's been awhile since I followed them...

Looks like you are a "football expert" too. Which team is your favourite?
I agree. I have never understood, why Beckham should be any better then say Willem van Hanegem or Puskas.
Being prominent in the tabloids apparently helps.

Recently a book was brought out by Man Utd detailing their top 50 players of all time.

Alex Ferguson also listed 5 "world class" players he has worked with in Man Utd over his 20 years. Now it seems the English press is going mad because Beckham was not listed in these 5 - meanwhile if we go back to reality most Man Utd supporters are a bit astonished that Becks has managed to make number 14 in the top 50 list - how he can be that high up I dont know.

Maybe it shows that if you generate enough hype the Press will believe it, fortunately the true football people do not.
