I do not understand this thread. Yes, after 1. d4, Nf6 2. c4, Nc6 you are tangoing (but leading, and it' s the other dancer that gets swirled around). But after 1. ...Nc6 you can simply march. And it is beyond why you wouldn't do that, especially as you do not seem too fond of dancing ?

Benjamin(?) has a series of articles on the tango at www.jeremysilman.com

Thanks, these are articles are very interesting but not really encouraging for White. It seems that 6. h4 (after 1. d4 Nc6   2. c4 e5   3. d5 Nce7   4. e4 Nf6   5. Nc3 Ng6) is the only continuation that gives some hope to White.

Yusupov once said that “The problem with the Dutch Defence is that later in many positions the best move would be ...f5-f7” but he is surely wrong.

IM Georgi Orlov also has a book out on the Tango, indeed I think he was the one to first popularise this interesting system in the west.

Thanks for the information.
Is it "The Black Knight's Tango" from 1998? What is the difference with Palliser's book? (except that it is an older one)? Which book does best explain how white should play? (ideas, plans, tricks,...)

The position you reached transposed to the Black Knights' Tango; 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 Nc6, quite a respectable opening played by Bologan among others (Yermolinsky, Benjamin, Christiansen). There's a good book about it by Richard Palliser.

Thanks a lot - I didn't at all expect this answer!! I will have a look at this book.

If u dig in the archives in the daring defence section (the right place for posting a question related this opening) u will find several threads where this has been discussed

You are right, I was looking in the wrong section.

Nothing I suppose - a bit like an Alekhines defence seen in the mirror

What's wrong with the obvious 2. d5 (2...Ne5 3. e4)?

looks like a Tony Miles special. Of course I think 2.c4 is giving Black some extra options - other choiches are 2.Nf3 which offers a Chigorin defence or 2.e4!? but then Miles used to go ...e5 anyway

Three weeks I had to face this opening  as white: 1. d4 Nc6   2. c4 e5   3. d5 Nce7   4. e4 Nf6   5. Nc3 Ng6   6. Be3 Bb4
I feeled very ast uncomfortable and eventually (actually I blundered a pawn and got under strong pressure).
The problem is I cannot find many litterature about it (some games on chessgames.com, mainly won by black and a game of Chetverik in the last chess informant where he plaid h4 in place of Be3 on the 6th move).
So, I have two questions:
has this opening a name?
where could I find some more explanations about it?
