	Yikes. Although I find these positions with rooks' pawns deceptive too - you can have SUCH a dominating position (as here) and still not win because the other feller's remaining pawn is so well advanced. I certainly find them hard to judge by eye. Although you would think someone of Timman's experience and interest in the endgame would have managed better even in what was presumably a blitz finish.

	There's a funny example in the latest NIC of Timman transposing from a totally won minor piece ending into a trivially drawn pawn ending: Timman - Adianto, Jakarta 2006 Wh: Kd4, Nd5, Pa4,c5,h2 Bl: Kb7, Bc8, Pa5,h4 White eschewed Ke5 in favour of the flashy 45 c6+?? etc ...after 52 Kh4 Kf4, draw agreed. What could he have been thinking?

	The 30 second a move finish with all the moves in 1.5 hrs is a ridiculous time-limit I have to admit. It is still chess, but why ruin the game like this? I´m not saying all games should be 6 or 7 hour marathon sesssions but there must be a middle ground somewhere

	Missed a win myself in an endgame (although rather more complicated) last Saturday in the Basque league, these 30 second a move finishes are horrible, you lose a number of seconds and part of your concentration writing the move down, and as Glenn Flear pointed out: what do you do if you want to go to the toilet? Who are the idiots who decide these things?

	Ptero, that's not how it did end of course but how it should have ended (the moves you give are how White should have won and the finishing position winning for White, I think?). Malakhov played the rather inept 61 Ke5? Mig does say 57...f5 draws; his line is 58 Kc4 Kc6 59 b5+ Kd6 60 Kb4 e4 =, but I'm momentarily struggling to see why 60 b6 Kc6 61 b7 Kxb7 62 Kd5 doesn't win. No doubt there's some excellent reason which I'd be obliged if some capable person could point out. Like 62....e4 63 Ke5 Kc6 64 Kxf5 Kd5, of course. Wonderful what a moment's thought before posting can sometimes achieve....

	Malakhov-Najer, Moscow open. (Black won the tournament after holding this endgame). In fact it was a draw a couple of moves earlier, but Najer blundered also.
