Well, England lost 27-18 to Wales.

But for France to win 46-19? Shocked Last  I checked on BBC France were leading 24-19! But according to latest reports, it was a very controversial game due to many questionable decisions by the ref! Sending the wrong Scotland player off for example, who incidently was also their best player! South African ref supporting France I suppose?  Shocked

France was never leading 24-19 as Scotland made his last try after 77 minutes.
I cannot say France was helped by the ref as they clearly were the better team and all their tries were confirmed by video images but overall Ireland impressed me more during the tournamentand it is a pity England could not play a more decent rugby in Dublin and Cardiff.

Italy - Ireland 24-51
France - Scotland 46-19, France scoring a try in the last second of the match.
France's now leading due to a bigger goals difference. Ireland is secund.
England can still win the tournament this evening but they have to win 57 points. It 'll be very tough  Sad

In Willempie's post , I must sy that the whole thing sounds more Scottish than Roman!

Anyway....this saturday's pairings we hv:
Italy-Ireland
France- Scotland
Wales-England

It would be an exciting contest, as Ireland, France & England tie for 1st currently & all have to win in ensure one hand on the title. Not sure what will happen if all 3 win their matches tonight, I suppose pointd difference will be taken into consideration?? If thats the case, then France is definitely in the driving seat with the best points difference to date.

France having lost to England last week, blew thir chances of the Grand Slam (for teams that won all their matches in the competition)

Nice, but two little points.
1. This JC (the other one too) lived about 600 years before the Lombards came.
2. JC did not conquer Britain. Claudius did several decades after JC died.

There must be gauls in Italy:
Quote:

Julius Caesar was addressing the crowd in the Colliseum.

"Friends,Romans and Countrymen, lend me your ears.

Tomorrow I take our glorious army to conquer Northern Europe and I shall start with France. We shall kill many Gauls and return victorious".

The crowd are up on their feet "Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees, hail mighty Caesar"

Brutus turns to his mate and says " He disnae half talk some shi*e eh"

Six months later, Caesar comes back having conqured France and
addresses the crowd in the Colliseum. " Friends, Romans and Countrymen, I have returned from our campaign in France and as I promised, we killed 50,000 Gauls".

The crowd are up on their feet " Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees, hail mighty Caesar".

Brutus says to his mate " What a load of shi*e, I'm gonnae check this oot"

So Brutus sets of for France and three weeks later he comes back to Rome.

Caesar is addressing the public in the Colliseum again "Friends,
Romans and Countrymen, tomorrow we set off for Britain and we are going to sort those b*stards out"

The crowd are up on their feet "Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees, hail mighty Caesar"

Brutus jumps up and shouts " Caesar, you are a liar. You told us that you had killed 50,000 Gauls in France but I've been there tae check it oot and ye only killed 25,000 !!!!"

The crowd are stunned and all sit down in silence.

Caesar gets up and looks slowly round the Colliseum then across at Brutus and says
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Aye but away Gauls count double in Europe !!!

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Right. But how many Gauls are left there since the invasion of the Lombards?

Since when does Italy participate? I thought this tournament was preserved for the nations of the Celts (France = Little Brittanny).

Well, northern Italy used to be referred to as Cisalpine Gaul, right?

England, France & Ireland share 1st place now. This weekend will be a big thriller, as from there the overall champ will be decided.

Yes, and the most amazing is that Italy still has a theoretical chance of succes!!
The program is:
France - Scotland
Italy - Ireland
Wales - England

thibdb, nice to know a fellow rugby union fan here (i dont care too much for rugby league). I always tend to have a softspot for the Scots & Irish in this tournament. Will look forward to talking abt the tri-nations and the rugby world cup when we get there as well. Cheesy. By then it wld be the All-Blacks & the Springboks for me.

I like also the All-Blacks and the Springboks. Actually, I like nice plaid rugby with teams going for tries.  Wink
But emotionnally speaking, I mostly prefer when England wins and France loses. Nothing to do with reason, just emotions  Cheesy
