	It depends a lot on the tournament. Checking the website of one organizer in the U.S., it says that GMs and foreign IMs are free. I'd guess that smaller tournaments are less likely to give away free entries.

	Just a quick question, in the article it says: Quote: But I’m a professional. I had, with some difficulty, come up with the $119 entry fee. Usually in Europe, GMs and IMs (and sometimes WGM & WIMs too) would get a free start in most tms - is this not the standard in the US or is it just that tournament?

	Hello, I think Taylor is obviously proud of his new wife and son, and it is just not occurring to him that other people are coming to a chess tournament, to play chess with rules that are the same for everyone. It is not the first time that a couple are unaware that other people are not so in awe with their special relationship as they themselves are. Bye John S

	When I first read the following ChessCafe article: Kafka Lives at the American Open by Timothy Taylor I thought Taylor's public attack of a teenage boy for "falsely accusing him of cheating" seemed a bit petty. Now it appears that Taylor's account of events wasn't even true (see the recently added responses to the article) - no cheating accusation was even made! Although I've found some of Taylor's other writings entertaining (despite being annoyingly self-indulgent), here he proves himself to be a real scumbag! (Taylor did coin a good word: *Topaloved* and the proceeded to immediately misuse it! )
