I don't know, but it sounds like they might have played out one of those Sam Loyd things, which you can see at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalemate (under "Stalemate in problems") ...

Hey, can one of you guys help me out. I am trying to recall a game, I think one of the polgar sister's was playing, where they obviously had a prearranged draw and to make a point of it they played some psychotic stuff which led to a stalemate with a ton of pieces still on the board. Any clue what that was?
