Best biography: Michael Ehn's work on Spielmann. Except several commented games (including comments of contemporaries like Tarrasch and Tartakower) it contains biographical sketches by Ehn and Fink, In Memoriams by Stahlberg and Lundin. Part one consists of articles by Spielmann himself, which are hard to find these days. Of course the famous Sickbed is there, the funniest article on openings I have ever read. Another one is an article called Attacking Styles, with Spielmann's thoughts on Morphy, Tsjigorin, Tarrasch, Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine and Bogoljubow.

Capa was one of the greatest attackers.

Spielmann's section on Capa sees the header "the dead point". The final alinea:

Quote:
In this game (C-Bogoljubow, Moscow 1925) Capablanca has refound the attack by chance. In the same tournament though against Iljin-Genevski things did not turn as well. When he in that game failed to chose the correct continuation, he could not avoid the loss.

I love that comment.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

If you don't get many responses, it is not becuase the topic isn't interesting, but rather becuase the topic has been done many times before on this forum in several different forms. Try doing a search.
