I am rather sceptical about that gambit. Why to voluntary weak the black fields, and create a blockage on f4 for the bishop on c1? It conflicts to me with common sense, just as 1 e4 e5 2 Nh3. Playable? Yes, often white can afford one weak move, but there is a limit ofcourse.

By the, looking at https://www.niggemann.com/startneu.htm for Bird books. I found one about the Williams gambit. This gambit is starting with 1. f4-d5 2.e4-de4 3. Nc3.
Any experiences with it?

Schwarz is a treasure of old theory. And because it is old, it does not mean it is useless.

Besides Schwarz, Ivanov has written two nice booklets about the Bird, and Soltis has written a couple of booklets as well, on Bird like openings, like the white Stonewall and the Niomzowitsch-Larsen opening.

Chessbase has made a CD about the Bird, and there is also an old theory artical from Chessbase about the From. 

And of good value are the Danielsen video's.

Rolf Schwarz was not a very strong player (14th in the Berlin championship of 1949). Around 1960 he started a project to cover the entire opening theory (12 volumes) in German. As far as I know he never finished the project. The book on the Bird is one of them. The publisher was Schach-Archiv Fr.L.Rattmann from Hamburg.
From 1976 he wrote 4 volumes on Gambit Openings: the Volga, the Göring, the Morra and the Wing Gambits. These were published by Schachverlag Rudi Schmaus, Heidelberg.
Of course his books are outdated now. Because of his habit to mention everything he could find, no matter how obscure, his books are a very good source if you want to know the state of theory of around 1960, 1965 (or 1975, 1980 concerning the gambit books). He was also one of the first writers trying to explain typical plans.
So it is useful to get that book on the Bird in addition to Taylor's, especially if it is not in his bibliography. In that case it is likely you will find a few forgotten lines and ideas worth a new investigation.
  
The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Could you give a little more information about this Rolf Schwarz? I couldn't find anything about him on chessgames.com.
I just found one book written by him at https://www.niggemann.com/startneu.htm: "Bird-Eröffnung 1. f2-f4" reedited in 1997 and problably written in 1960.

I like Taylor's book very much indeed. 

I have a couple of old books. 

1) Rolf Schwarz - Handbuch der Schach-Eroffnungen - Band 13 1.f2-f4

2) a book which I cannot find on my shelf giving all the games from a correpondence fixed openings book. It is mentioned by Bent Larsen in his book of games.

both are mainly of historical interest.

Schwarz wrote lots of opening books which in their day were very good value.
