I'd say that could be heading into a rather good "race"-type position for Black (though 10. c5 f5 11. f3 Nf6, bringing ideas like ...fe fe ...Ng4 into the position, looks like a good move order).  White's pieces (Bd3, Ne2) don't look well-placed for such a position; e.g. they won't be helping to hinder ...g4 by Black.

This game was the first time I played the KID with either colour, so I am afraid I don't have a well thought answer.
10.Qd2 looked like a reasonable move, it has been practiced by some strong players, I thought it a good idea to have f2-f4 available.
But next time I might try 10.c5 f5 11.f3 indeed. I wasn't too happy exchanging blacksquared bishops, which reveals my lack of knowledge and experience with/against the KID.

I am always interested in KI, cause this is the first defence I played against d4, therefore I couldnt resist to quickly play through this game (online on ICCF-Webchess - a very usefull possibility).

A question to Mnb and the Kings Indian Experts:

Is 10.Qd2 a theoretical recommendation somewhere? I would have preferred 10.f3 to keep my dark squared bishop which is usually a lot better than the black one and then follow up with 11.c5 - perhaps its even better vice versa (10.c5, 11.f3). Did you think about this plan and if - why did you play differently?

About 1935, which is lower than mine at ICCF. I think you're thinking of the same thing I am thinking of.

Black played almost every move a tempo (well, within a few hours).

Markovich has managed another draw with Black against stronger (100 points) opposition.  The game involved an Evans Gambit.

The Chesspublishing team currently stands fourth with five points from eight games.

3 draws on board 1
1 draw on board 2
1 draw on board 3
2 wins & 1 draw on board 4

Greetings,

It's a strong section and my first really serious CC in a long time.  My goal is to finish with a net score of zero.  I would like to think there is slightly more chance of my doing better than that, than doing worse.  But time will tell.

If that's the case, you've clearly ruined your chances!  Smiley

Oh dear!   Undecided

I was hoping that the +2 would mitigate the damage on board 3...

I detect a slight miscommunication in the team strategy...

Yes: Markovich achieved a couple of good draws against strong opposition on the top board.  Much too early to really gauge our progress, but +2 is a nice way to come out of the gate...

+2 is pre-emptive damage control for board 2 Wink
