No, there is no bonus for more games - I would be worried about quantity triumphing over quality! Roll Eyes
I don't know why Chris only ever does 5 or 6 games - if I ask him about it he gets upset and claims he puts more work in than the others! Shocked

Is there any bonus for including more games?  GM Ward usually has pretty interesting updates, but besides the fact that he's often late, he nearly always seems to put out only 6 games.  Then again he does have the narrowest subject to work with.

Suggest reverting to some basic behaviourism (e.g. BF Skinner) on your part. Part of pay built in (as pseudo-bonus) for those who deliver on time every month. More effective and motivating than a penalty but effectively the same for you financially.

That has always been the case, actually, although I have recently increased the bonus. Incidentally I have just received a bumper December update from Carsten! Wink

I agree, his updates are well-researched, considered and detailed. Credit and thanks to Mr Hansen.
Occasional bit of tardiness not a huge problem I feel. Just hope he isn't a bus driver as his other job.

If tardiness isn't the biggest problem then Carsten's updates have been very interesting, he does know his stuff!

Being present and on time is not sufficient. As I tell my university students. They also need to know their stuff and to actively demonstrate such. With the greatest respect to Mr Martin, he hasn't shown much insight or depth. Cursory. Was interesting to see his ChessPub compadre Prie wade in and upbraid in one update. No.

J-P Wallace - hasn't appeared at all insightful on chesslecture.com. But written ability may be better.

So - Mr Vigorito then. Hopefully he can be as thorough as Prie and Renet before who have impressed most with their research and lucidity.

All, naturally 'imho' and hopefully a bit of plain speaking on occasion can be forgiven. It should actually help. I hand out  questionnaires at the end of each year to find out what my students think - it helps one professionally to be given candid, even brutal, opinions (though of course most are very positive Wink)  Encourages one to be a reflective practitioner.

If looking for a new guy. I vote for IM John-Paul Wallace as he did a excellent job as a stand-in in the past.  Wink

I think he has given up playing chess professionally. What about Andy Martin - at least he is always on time! Otherwise David Vigorito has expressed real interest (see above).

Is it just me or did we miss some October contributions in a few sections?

Or did they perchance get eaten by the hacking intruder?

Just wondering seeing as how seems this hasn't been mentioned anywhere....

best regards,

Bibs

I wonder if Fluffy will have to pay to subscribe for Vigorito's updates?

I think David was joking ... and besides, he is already a subscriber! Smiley

It looks to me that 1.c4 is not Vigorito's favourite opening move. But who am I? Certainly not a subscriber.
I wonder if Fluffy will have to pay to subscribe for Vigorito's updates?

I concur with fluffy. Wonder who may be behind the alias.
Consistently impressive on chesslecture.com. Certainly a strong player, active which is important,  appears to know his stuff.

Tony? owsabout it then?

Sue? Calm down. This is chess not football. Well known that chess players have no money. 'Disaster'? A 'lifeline'? Put that sensible hat back on sir.

Go the whole hog and offer an English GM a couple of beers, take the collar off, and unleash Danny the Dog across the pond.

Tony

what a disaster if Carsten won't even respond ! Perhaps you can get in touch with Chesscafe and ask them to forward one of your emails as they seem to have a lifeline. Failing that - issue a claim for breach of contract !
