Next i want to show a study of myself.

And what a lovely likeness it is too!  Cool

I really enjoyed the last puzzle even though I didn't get it despite knowing that the key lay in a stalemate position.

I look forward to banging my head against this one too!

This study is breaking my head...

Mine is already broken, therefore I had to look up the solution in my bookshelf. But (!) knowing the solution and looking at the diagram I still find it unbelievable. I dont think an average chess brain has a chance to solve this, at least my (well I think not so bad) chess brain overheated.

incredible study; small hint: ask yourself, where to put the black queen to stalemate the white king.

The older, the better - over 2200 and still rising.

Ok,

So far I'm stuck even for candidate moves.  I'm guessing that the main theme will be a stalemate (only because I have a vague recollection of this), but I don't see how to force black to take or block the pawn.  I hope you give us some time to work on this one, Gunter!

I still love these puzzles, with the one caveat that some of them don't feel particularly realistic.

Thanks for providing these!

(Sorry, like Polonius, I am too longwinded to be good at poetry.)

NB: The only modification was grammatical.

That´s  right Tony. Maybe you should write the Chesspoetrybook next?

Huh Oh I missed the pin - one should take a serious look first before posting a rubbish poem  Grin

Maybe that should be:
"when knight and rook is gone
the king will be alone"
except that the pawn is still there! Smiley
