The "other two main options" are 6...e6 and 6...Na6?

Look at the table of contents in the pdf file.

What a gracious response

I gather you mean 6...e6 and 6...Nbd7 with 7...Qc7.
The confusion stems from thinking you meant 6th move alternatives.

I like the balance of coverage of this book. In  6. Ne5, it is good to see the Sokolov line ( 6....Nbd7 7. Nxc4 Nb6 ) receives equal coverage to Black's other two main options.

alas, the book has been done for quite a while now, and as mentioned here it is at the printer. so it's a bit late for me to take requests. I'm sorry but 5...e6 is not covered. it really transposes to a QGA with a free a2-a4 for White. or one could say, an early a4 variation with ...a6 omitted for Black. The "Chess Explained" series is not meant to be comprehensive though, so I hope you understand. Only 4...dxc4 is covered, so there is no Exchange, Slow Slav, etc (though many of these lines ARE covered for Black in my
"Play the Semi-Slav"). the bluk of the book is, of course, on 5...Bf5, but 5...Na6 and 5...Bg4 are aslo covered, as are 5.e3 and 5.e4 (instead of 5.a4).

Thank You very much for your prompt response. Sounds like a great book!

I'm also going by http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Chess-Explained-Main-Line-Slav-David-Vigorit...

OK, that last one is quite a bit of cut and paste...anyhow it always takes 4 weeks after publishing date for me to see any of the stuff put out by the fine British or Euro Pub Houses. Meanwhile, we here in the Colonies have Eric Schiller and Dzindzi. Yeah, life's fair.

Oh, I see the Gambit website, yeah well...I guess it's coming out soon then. Over there. I stand corrected.

d**n. Oh well, hope it's there (maybe a paragraph?). I really love how this book is set for April; I won't see it till June and it's already too late to add details.  Tongue

Set for April? What do you mean? The book will be out in January.

The book looks nice. By focusing on the main lines, we don't get anything on e.g. the exchange. Fine by me.

Don't check me with no lightweight stuff.

Hey Hey, just your friendly Neighborhood Ghenghisclown here with a plea (Nay, suggestion?) :

I see that you have an upcoming book coming out in 2009 called Chess Explained : The Mainline Slav.   Please, would you be so kind as to include 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3 dxc4 5.a4 e6

Which I believe is called the  Alatortsev Variation, maybe sometimes called the Soultanbéieff Variation. It seems I can't find mention of this in my library or the new books I've bought, including Dangerous Weapons: The Queen's Gambit, and IM Cox's book. I've found a rather dry article from 2004 in a NIC Yearbook, but it sucks from an explanatory perspective. Anyway, I enjoy your lectures (chesslecture.com), and thanks.
