Hi all,

Just wanted to point out that there was an amazing game played between Hou YiFan vs Rustam Kazimdzhanov in Corus B. If I am not wrong, it was a Ruy Lopez Closed Zaitsev Var and following Johnsen and Johannessen's book, it was 17...c4 mainline Line 2B 18 Nd4 pp 87-89 and both players were following the game Anand vs Timoshchenko,  Frunze 1987 up to move 34 Qc4 (In YiFan-Kazimdzhanov it is move 37 Qc4. Amazing is it not !!?? Theory for 34 moves! However it seems experience counts since "young" Anand lost (how much older is Timoshchenko?) and here young YiFan lost as well.

In a few days Corus/2009 will start. It's a bit sad of course that Anand and Topalov are not participating. But there is still an impressive line up.
With probably Ivanchuck and Carlsen as the top favourites.
By the way, It is a bit odd that Kamsky is also participating, while Topalov is not. Topalov apparently did not want to participate with a view to the probability that the Kamsky-Topalov match will take place shortly after the end of the tournament....

In GM-group B I noticed an interesting participant Henriques Mecking.
