would those be chess base dvds DRW ? I notice that short is on playchess quite frequently

so the name of the company is chesscountry.com and it is run by Bill Whitehead, Kurt Stein and a third silent partner (whom provided the information I share now). The two dvds I thought had been released were just being sold in select areas as test beta versions to get feedback before a final release (which is as of now unscheduled). Two volumes of Nigel Short's best games as well as an interview with him conducted by Andrew Martin are in the dvds and a third volume is already being slated for production. I have no idea when public release is but I can probably snag some betas copies if anyone is interested.

There's also the year or two of columns he did for the Guardian on their website. Great fun at times  Smiley

there were collections by keene  and one by pein et al both from 1993 just before the WC match.

sHORTS father wrote one on his early car
eer - that is very interesting.

i think short has an interestin way of expressing himself so would write an interesting book or dvd

Hello:

I think it was in one of Rowson's books that he mentioned a term Short used and I still smile when I think of it - iso the term  "Zugzwang" he uses "Volkswagen" Smiley

Fortunately many of Short's highly readable columns for the Telegraph are still available at

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/

- do a search at the website for "Sunday Chess Column"

I seem to recall Keene (who incidentally studied German literature) writing long ago something like " ...and Black is in Volkswagen, as they say in Germany."

Or "Vorsprung durch technic, as they say in Germany" which is highly appropriate for chess  nowadays Smiley

Short produced recently I believe 2 with plans for a third DVDS of his favorite games. I believe the producer of the dvds was Kurt Stein.

Yes: I thought Short in his own words would be fun.  According to much of the literature, it also seems as though he hasn't played a game of chess since 1993, which is false and a bit of a shame...

Does anyone know of any plans for a book of Nigel Short's games?  Is that something he might even be contemplating?  I suspect it would have quite a market...

I had to remove the Nigel Short thread as the title was libelous, and as owner of the site I was concerned that I would be held responsible. I also didn't want to annoy Nigel just in case I have to play him again sometime! Roll Eyes
