Obviously this belongs in the d-pawn-specials section, with the other reversed slavs.

If the two of you, Smyslovfan and Markovich, have a petty battle raging, perhaps you may like to conduct it privately?

Markovich, cannot understand your purpose at all, but this may cheer you up, if you are a bit grumpy about something (lev, global economic meltdown, DPRK-Japan mutual threats, things inappropriately posted, whatever) :

Thanks Bibs, but I'll probably just keep on posting whatever I damn well feel like posting, subject to my own ideas of civility and taste which, I recognize, may not be the same as yours or Smyslov Fan's.

Markovich,

Does this really make sense to you?

Perfect sense.

Markovich,

I'm surprised at your petulance.  You complain so mightily about someone asking how to face 1.c4 as a QGA player that you decide to illustrate your opposition by creating a completely unrelated thread?  Does this really make sense to you?

I normally love reading what you have to say, so I am surprised by your actions today.

Cheers!

Black can consider meeting 1.c3 with 1...e6. Then 2.c4 e5 is a Reversed Sicilian. However, I suspect that 2.d4 is ultimately stronger. Then 2...c5 3.e4 is an Alapin Sicilian, whereas after 2...d5 White can cunningly transpose into an innocuous line with 3.c4, which normally occurs via. 1.d4 c5 2.e3 d5. However, Black emerges victorious in the end with 3...e5!, ingeniously reaching the Albin Counter-Gambit.

Finally, there is 1...d5, when 2.e4 is an improved Englund Gambit because 2...de4 3.Qa4 regains the pawn.

1...e5 2.d4 exd4 (compliant, to say the very least!) 3.cxd4 d5 leads to an Exchange Queen's Gambit.

Actually this should really belong in the Sicilian section because after 1...e5, White has the clearly much superior 2.c4! transposing to the Sicilian.

Tum tee tum, oh, how do you like to meet 1.c3?

My favorite way is to go 1...d6, which sometimes gives rise to 2.d4.  I then have considered the possibility of playing 2...d5, when 3.c4 would be a Queen's Gambit.

I therefore assume this belongs in 1.d4 d5.
