Did you guys really forget Kasparov's opening books? (Or am I just getting old?) 2 books, right before his first match with Karpov. One on the Caro with Sakharov and the other on the Scheveningen with Nikitin, both of which are classics.

I suppose it's a toss-up between Bologan and Khalifman.

Khalifman's undertakings are pretty epic though.

Karpov wasn't too bad a player.
He did a 4 volume set around the time he was still competing for the World Champs. Late 80's I think.

He's done more recent books, but maybe isn't as strong as Bologan or Khalifman at the moment.

Do DVD's count?
Kasparov's QGD and Narjdorf series!

But not many repertoire books admittedly.
You might me right with Bologan.

Who is the strongest player , who has written an opening book and a repertoire book ?
I think Bologan is the strongest player ever publishing a repertoire book (he is probably better than Avrukh).
As opening book in general, maybe Polugajevsky, although he was shurly assisted in his series on opening books in the 80s.

Any comments? Wink
