The Hyper-Accelerated Dragon move order issue

I play Accelerated Dragon against 1.e4 players. Sometimes I go for normal move order (i.e. 2....Nc6) and sometimes hyper-accelerated 2...g6 version. Even here, namely after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 g6 3.d4, having already avoided Rossolimo, I usually play 3....cd4 reaching normal AD. But after reading Andrew Greet's excellent (in my opinion) Starting Out : The Accelerated Dragon, I started to play 3...Bg7 too, mainly because I was impressed with Malakhov game given as Illustrative game 1.
Skipping some commentary here is how this game develops :
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 g6 3.d4 Bg7 4.dxc5 Qa5+ 5. c3 Qxc5 6. Na3 Nf6 7. Nb5 b6 8. e5 Ng4 9.Qd4 Nxe5
"Offering a very interesting positional exchange sacrifice. This is far more promising than the feeble 9....Qxd4 10.cxd4 when White dominates the play" comments Greet, which I fully agree and statistics also support his opinion.
Having armed with fresh knowledge, I decided to give this idea a try during my last tournament. There my opponent, 3340 ELO rated FM, deviated with
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 g6 3.d4 Bg7 4.dxc5 Qa5+ 5. c3 Qxc5 6. Na3 Nf6 7. e5 Ng4 (what else ?) and now 8.Qd4.
Over the board I had to make a decision. Either play 8...Qxd4 and reach similar positions given as inferior by Greet or play only other move 8....d6 and face the complications. I went for 8...d6 and although I won the game at the end, I am doubtful if I should give a second try on this line exactly because of this move order.
Do you have an opinion as to how to meet this clever approach ?
