Engines are allowed at LSS-rating tournaments as in cc normally. There are no engine tournaments on this server too. There are chess960 tournaments (don't know about the engines).

Personally I use LSS for cc with engines and schemingmind.com for cc without engines (trying out chess.com too). It's easier to avoid careless use of an engine if I divide the cc activities on two different sites. Schemingmind games are analyzed in a pgn-editor without engine. LSS games are analyzed in Rybka Aquarium.

My cc-rating is a little above 2000 at the LSS (formerly IECG). This is not strong enough for participating in the team, but I might work as a second for someone if wanted.

You know what, mine on LSS is only about 2080, 200 points less than it is on ICCF!  I don't know why, but since I joined LSS a year or two ago, I've just been getting killed there!  I'm doing a little better recently, but it'll take time to build my rating there back up.

LSS = with engine?

Talk about not giving an answer!

I just went through the website that you gave (and the IECG link that website provides), Markovich, and could not find any mention of whether engines are allowed.

Are engines allowed or not?

Under Rules and Usage / Tournament Types

number 4: "The LSS No Engine Cup"

So, one could assume that engines are allowed in the other tournament types.

12 games at once is pretty easy... I'm normally playing 30. I know many people that play 150.

And yes LSS is engines. Very few real corr servers aren't.

Well 12 games at once is no picnic, so I'm not so sure we'll have that many applicants to choose from when the time comes...

That said, it is kind of fun, and a good way to get motivated to look at theory.

If my games go well I might actually get hooked on corr - it is very nice to just start a game without the "I should've/could've prepared properly" nagging in the back of the head.

Indeed.

It is interesting to be able to research the openings and move you want to play. The computer is a nice back-up ensuring that you don't blow your games by obvious tactical blunders.

Don't worry: there still a lot of positional blunders to be made   Grin

How many games?
I'd be happy to play in a team if only a few games ( usual reason: work, 2 young kids)
A lowish team as hardly ever played cc. On a low board.

FIDE:2262. Will be higher quickly if I can actually get to a few tourneys.
No postal/cc grade or rating.

I would be very happy to second someone for chesspub corr team. I have a very wide repertoire. The only place i'd be useless is open sicillians. I'm a pure anti sicillian player. My corr rating on ficgs is around 2000.

After playing twice I will be glad to hand over the honour - it is a lot of fun but sometimes quite a burden as well. The idea of being a second next time attracts me too. So ArkHein and TonyRo, no problems afaIc.

Yeah, it would be no surprise to me to see ChessPub capable of fielding quite a few strong ICCF teams. I bet we could find 15 or so reasonable CC players here, easy.

The ChessPub is getting stronger by the month.  If we fielded a team of some of our best analysts, we'd be close to unbeatable.

When does the next season start so we can update our roster?

Thanks to the original ChessPub team, which is pretty darned good in its own right! Cool
