Just won my first corr game! Smiley (+1 =2 with 9 games left of 12)

I've been thinking about starting a blog and comment the games properly, but I might never get around to doing that...

TJ-Dorer,M
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 b6 4.g3 Bb7 5.Bg2 Be7 6.Nc3 O-O 7.Qc2 c5 8.d5 exd5 9.Nh4 Nc6 10.cxd5 Nd4 11.Qd3 Ne8 12.e3 Bxh4 13.gxh4 Ne6 14.e4 Nd4 15.Bg5 f6 16.Be3 f5 17.e5 d6 18.Bg5 Qb8 19.e6 Nxe6 20.dxe6 Bxg2 21.Rg1 Qb7 22.O-O-O Be4 23.Qg3 b5 24.h5 Bf3 25.Rd3 Bc6 26.Rxd6 Nxd6 27.Qxd6 Rae8 28.h6 g6 29.Rd1 b4 30.Nd5 Bxd5 31.Rxd5 a5 32.e7 Rf7 33.Qe6 1-0

And if anyone's interested, here are the two draws too:

Wegelin,R-TJ
1.c4 c6 2.e4 d5 3.exd5 Nf6 4.d4 cxd5 5.Nc3 e6 6.Nf3 Bb4 7.cxd5 Nxd5 8.Qc2 Nc6 9.Be2 Nce7 10.O-O Bd7 11.a3 Bd6 12.Ne4 Bc6 13.Ne5 Rc8 14.Nxd6+ Qxd6 15.Qc5 Qb8 16.Nxc6 Nxc6 17.Re1 b6 18.Qb5 O-O 19.Be3 ½-½

TJ-Triay Moll,L
1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3 e6 5.Bg5 h6 6.Bh4 dxc4 7.e4 g5 8.Bg3 b5 9.Be2 Bb7 10.O-O Nbd7 11.Ne5 Bg7 12.Nxd7 Nxd7 13.Bd6 a6 14.a4 e5 15.Bg4 exd4 16.e5 c5 17.f4 gxf4 18.Qe2 h5 19.Bf3 Bxf3 20.Qxf3 Nxe5 21.Qd5 Ra7 22.Ne4 Qa8 23.Qxc5 Nd3 24.Qf5 Rh6 25.Rfe1 Nxe1 26.Rxe1 ½-½

(Don't have a board handy? You can copy each game and paste at the preview page at chessflash.com which would allow you to play through them online)

This is the first of four 3.Nc3 Frenchies. In two I decided to play Moskalenko's Black Queen Blues, also called the Portisch Variation. This is one of them:

Kukula,P
MNb
CL/2010/C2, 2010

1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5.a3 Bxc3+ 6.bxc3 Qa5 7.Bd2 Qa4 8.Nf3 b6 9.c4 Ba6 10.cxd5 Bxf1 11.Kxf1 exd5 12.g3 Ne7 13.Kg2 0-0 14.c3 Qc6 15.Bg5 Ng6 16.a4 Nd7 17.Re1 f6 18.exf6 Nxf6 19.Bxf6 Rxf6 20.Ne5 Nxe5 21.Rxe5 Raf8 22.f4 Rf5 23.Rxf5 Rxf5 24.Ra2 Rf6 25.Re2 Re6 26.Re5 Rxe5 27.fxe5 cxd4 28.cxd4 a6 29.Qb3 b5 30.axb5 axb5 31.h4 Qc4 32.Qd1 b4 33.e6 Qc6 ½-½

At board 4 all finished games were drawn except for that Fels guy, who has lost everything but two draws ...

Thanks! I had tried a couple of the links provided earlier but apparently not the right ones.

Thx, MNb and TJ! What's the link to the crosstable?

(We should probably post the crosstable here every now and again, since we have a team competing!)

Congrats, MNb! What was Fels' ICCF rating?

Fels has 2127. He is one of the guys playing a tempo; he took 4 or 5 days for the entire game. Don't know what was exactly wrong with him, but it is his 7th loss. One of his two draws was against Lucki, who has the highest rating in the group.

MNb, proficiat voor de teams voor het eerst winnen! In het spel het lijkt alsof je 2100 en had hij 1900. :)

Btw, in the cross table what does the SB-column stand for?

With a few exceptions mine have developed pretty fast, because some of my opponents respond a tempo (ie within a day). In general things are going not too bad. In one game I will have to defend an inferior endgame. In two others I think I can demonstrate a win. A third one looks promising.

My own games on Board 3 have been slow in developing.  It's been an excruciatingly busy few months at work, and—following along with Markovich's remarks earlier in this thread—I've been terrified about dropping unnecessary points and half-points for the team.

No disasters yet, though I seem to be defending a disproportionate number of Exchange Ruy Lopez games (three out of six Black games).  After not facing the Exchange in more than two years, this has been a bit of an overdose.  And it's hard to get excited about some of the ensuing positions.

Next there's international tournaments, which you can check out at ICCF's main website, or www.iccf-webchess.org for the webserver version. This is the most serious, FIDE-rated, and engine friendly way to play.

Your link is wrong - it's http://www.iccf-webchess.com

My bad, thanks!  Grin
