Nice win TJ, though I was surprised to see your choice of opening (no KG!)
Thanks. Well, my main corr motivation was to try something new (or actually old, as I was a convinced 1.d4 and French player until the early 1990s).
Besides, after 1.e4 c5! it feels like an uphill battle for white. Especially since it seems very common in corr, so experienced corr players will have detailed files in all the critical MLs, while I've been playing the Grand Prix, Closed SI, and various 2nd/3rd moves for a long time now. - Ironically, it was the lure of the Open Sicilian that made me change to 1.e4 once upon a time..
Besides, as can be seen vs Triay - 1.d4 can be just as sharp as any crazy line after 1.e4.
Btw, I think 11.Qd3 vs Dorer and 18.Qe2 vs Triay Moll, are both novelties (after the game was over I saw that Dreev briefly mentions 18.Bf3, the comp's 1st choice..
If somebody wants Emms or Scherbakov to comment, send them an email!
Good luck with that, as Scherbakov hasn't even commented on
Bacrot-Aronian yet - the stem game of 17.f4!? though this seems much more poisonous practically than theoretically.
