I like the Centre Game very much for rapid chess (until now have a perfect score with it), but how is Konikowski as an author?

His CBM articles were mostly of low value (at least in my opinion).

These two authors write quite a bit together. They did a book on the 4 Pawns, and I believe the Sokolsky. They tend to be encyclopedic, reference type works. I don't have the Sokolsky one, but the 4-Pawns one was good in my opinion, with plenty of analysis, illustrative games, and thoughts of the author. The commentary tends to be a little bit less than you'd get with other authors or publishers, but if you're a stronger club player it's probably better than way anyway.

For some reason, looking only at the subject title, I thought this would be a book on dieting.

"Take Control of the Opening: A Repertoire Based on the Center Game"
~ Jerzy Konikowski (Author), Marek Soszynski (Author)

Paperback: 256 pages
Publisher: Russell Enterprises, Inc (January 15, 2010)

http://www.amazon.com/Take-Control-Opening-Repertoire-Center/dp/1888690577/ref=s...;

Well, there seems to be a new thread for every new opening book being published. I might as well start a thread on this book, as I haven't seen it discussed here yet.

I have no clue how this repertoire is supposed to be vs other choices than 1...e5, but I assume that most choices are rather off-beat.

It would be good to see a list of forthcoming books from Russell. Some of their books are  very good and I like their 21st century edition series.

Don't check me with no lightweight stuff.
