Not sure which Exchange variation you mean, Keano.  He recommends g3 against both the KID and the Grunfeld.

I noticed Sebastian Bogner (a young German GM) playing what is apparently Avrukh's recommendation against the ...c6 Gruenfeld a couple of weeks ago.  It occurred to me that Joe Gallagher advocated the Black side of that sort of thing in his KID book of about six years ago, "losing a tempo" with the d-pawn rather than the c-pawn.

what is the recommendation? Hes not going with the exchange variation?

Que?

According to QC Blog, 1. d4 g6 2. c4 Bg7 3. Nf3 f5. Just an alternate move order.

Also, the Reluctant Benoni is 1.d4 Nf6 2. c4 c5 3. d5 d6 4. Nc3 g6, and black refuses to touch his e pawn.

Just got the book yesterday. Spent most of the evening watching "Synecdoche, New York" and a documentary about the Berlin Wall (no, not the opening) rather than spending much time with the book.

I think St Petersburg variation was 1.d4 g6 2.c4 f5 3.h4!

PS. I'm aware of the Leningrad, St Petersburg, Petrograd issue.

Yeah, was a tad surprised by that when my copy arrived. Like a judoka going for a big overhand right.

Next time, have a look at Niggemann before asking, Smyslov_Fan.  Wink

PS. No, the book does not need to be destroyed because of omitting Der Geier, but I  expect some extra pages like the missing lines vs 1...d5. It would also be interesting to see what Stefan Bücker had say of Avrukh's choice vs this opening.

If that's true, then the entire work should be committed to the flames. Tongue

Just so you know, Amazon typically gets books like this months after it's actually released. THat's just how it works. If you want it soon and you live in the States, order it from Chess4Less. Preordering from Quality Chess is also quite quick as well, but of course doesn't apply here.
