In my analysis, I prefer 9.d6 cxd6 to 9...Qxd6 as black has more winning chances and white is under greater pressure.

The real question is what people have vs. the Bxf7+, Bb3, and d3 system. If I remember correctly, this line was problematic as well.

So after 10.c3 Bg4 11.Nf7, Blacks play 11..Qd7

Well, 11...Qd7 12.Nxe5 Qf5 looks annoying for White indeed, you are right.

To g4-g4: 11.Nf7 Qb6! is good against 10.d3, not 10.c3. So after 10.c3 Bg4 11.Nf7, Blacks play 11..Qd7

yes 9.d6 Qd6 10.c3 Bg4 11.Qa4 Nd7 12.Kf2 Qf6 13.Ke1 0-0-0  and here in the NIC 70 14.cd4 was given as the only not losing  move but in fact it's lose by force! Smiley

Yes, but this is not forced, so White may deviate with e.g. 11.Nf7!?. Heisman proposes 11...Qb6 "! - and Black has some attacking chances". But after 12.Qa4+ Bd7 13.Qb4 Nc2 14.Qxb6 Bxb6 15.Na3 Nxa1 16.Nxe5 White is a pawn up, to say the least  Smiley

From my analysis, it seems that today Black draws after 5.Nxf7 Smiley

In another forum, someone claimed that he had refuted the Traxler in the line with 9.d6. He challenged me in a corr game and in fact I equalized easily, and I even won the game.

But why 9.h3? I was quite sure 9.d6 is winning?

Here is a line in the 5.Nxf7 Traxler where black is having a problem and I would like to have some help with my analysis.

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 Bc5 5.Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6.Kf1 Qe7 7.Nxh8 d5 8.exd5 Nd4 9.h3 Bh4 10.c3 Nf5 11.d4 where the critical position is reached.
How should black respond here?

Simply after 11.d4 e4 12.Bd2 Bd7 13.Na3 0-0-0 blacks seems to be little better in alls variations

11.d4 e4 12.Bd2 e3 13.Be1 Bf2 14.Bxf2 exf2 15.Qc1 Ne4 16.g4 Neg3+ 17.Kf2 Nxh1+ 18.Kg1 and white is winning was the analysis I had.

9.h3 Bh4 10.c3 Nf5 11.d4 Bd7 12.d6 Nxd6 13.g3 Nxc4 14.gxh4 0-0-0 15.Qe2 Nd6 16.Qxe5 Qf8 and black has a solid advantage because of his initiative.

9...Bg3 does have indications of being the stronger move.  I want to be sure of 9...Bh4 first to have a complete analysis.

Estrin, Traxler Gegenangriff, 4th ed. 1987 gives 9. - Bh4 10.c3 Nf5!11.d4 e4 (or Ne4 Sapundshijev - Gorkow, cc 1966/67 = in 24) 12.Bd2 e3! 13.Be1 Bf2 14.Bxf2 exf2
and sees black superior.

Further he thinks that
9. - Bg3! (every ! by Estrin in this post) is better for black.

I think this line will be good.
