	John Watson's "The Unconventional King's Indian" from 1997 has about 11 pages on the Smyslov. As one might expect, he/it thinks Black has various ways to equalize.

	Thanks for verifying that Stigma; I could recall that Offbeat KID only covered some lines but not which lines since I don't own the book. What is the coverage like in 'Build Up Your Chess - Mastery'? Does Yusupov/Jussupow think White has chances for an advantage in the critical lines, or does he believe the Smyslov is most effective as a surprise weapon?

	Offbeat King's Indian would not be useful. It doesn't cover all White's offbeat choices, but instead focuses on just four semi-offbeat lines: The Averbakh, Makogonov (5.h3), 5.Bd3, and 5.Nge2.

	"Build up your chess - Mastery" by Yusupov har a section on the Smyslov variation as a recommendation for white against the KID.

	Try ECO E (2009), Offbeat King's Indian (no guarantees on this one, 2004), Play the King's Indian (2004) or Understanding the King's Indian (2005). But don't expect any encouragement for White's chances. Smyslov's games are significantly more useful for that purpose.

	I am wondering where I might find reference material on the Smyslov Variation of the King's Indian. Gallagher briefly discusses it in his Starting Out: The King's Indian, but I would like to find a more in depth discussion of the variation.
