9. Ne1 Nd7 10. Nd3 f5 11. Bd2 Nf6 12. f3 f4 13. c5 after this i have been trying g5 and then pushing my pawns through.  fritz 8 is screaming at me to play Qb6 after the pawns are exchanged on d6, I just do not want to commit my queen to the q side.  here is an example game.  the pawn on f3 is really solid it look like.
one game goes like this.
.........g5 14.  cd  cd 15. Rc1  h5 16. Kh1  g4 17. Nb5  gf 18.  Bf3  Bg4 19. Nc7 Rc8.  20. Bg4 Rc7 21. Be6+ Kh7 22. Qf3 Rc1 23. Rc1 Qb6.  At this point I made some silly moves blitzing.  It was in a weekend swiss against a 2100 opponent.  I am only an expert level player.  The only thing I can really see is that after 19 Nc7, I think Ne4 might have been stronger.  Other than that the fritz analysis is all above me and doesnt look good after I play the pawn up to g5 on move 13.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks for your thoughful replay Tony.  I will post some games once I get back to my house tonight.  I understand all of your points and in one of my recent games my opponent played h3 as well to go with this system trying to stop g4.  i won after a long protracted struggle in a poor ending, but i found myself not comprehending what to do once g4 was stopped.

White getting in c5 doesn't mean you're busted yet. In fact, look at the main line of the Classical variation:

9. Ne1 Nd7 10. Nd3 f5 11. Bd2 Nf6 12. f3 f4 13. c5

White's played 13. c5 before anything is going on the kingside, but you're not busted yet. Why? There are a few reasons:

1. White is attacking on the queenside, and you're trying to mate him. You can allow him to get started early because he's going to have to accept your threats as more serious eventually. You can hang half a chess set over there, but if you mate him, it simply doesn't matter. He can't do the same.

2. The c5-break is White's main break, but he has yet to mobilize any other pieces to support the break. He's simply played the break because he can. He still needs to open the c-file, bring his major pieces to it, perhaps his queen to b3, play a4 and Nb5, and then he still might have a ways to go! As a corollary, if Black gets in ...g4, his attack is starting in earnest, as after ...g3 his pieces spring into action and White's kingside can come under fire very quickly. This is important to consider.

3. Let's face it, he's White. He should be able to start a bit early on the queenside defend on the kingside sufficiently well to not lose. Black hopes that with best play (which is hard to come by in the KID anyway), that the concessions White makes defending the kingside will reduce his pressure on the queenside enough so Black can neutralize in turn.

Black tends to do okay in this line, and I'd suggest you check out some of the most famous games in this line and study them closely. I do also recall that Joe Gallagher's Play the King's Indian has reasonable coverage of the line. You can also check out Markos' Beat the KID. It has coverage of both the 10. Nd3 and 10. Be3 lines.

Perhaps you could post some of your games here, and we could take a look at them.

I think i am missing something in this line of the classical.  white always ends up getting in c5 before i can do anything on the K-side.  any help or related master games would be helpful.  thanks alot.
