Will Smith and Madonna both play on ICC and have blitz rating of about 1700-1800.

Just thought I'd mention.  Wink

White Queen: Catherine Deneuve, no doubt about it. Black Queen: Freddy Mercury.

Are you sure he's the light-squared bishop? After all, "It doesn't matter if you're Black or White".

The "King of Pop" Michael Jackson should be included, i'm not sure for which side though.

Well, MJ proclaimed himself that he was "Bad" in the eponymous song, and Bishops are usually thought of as good or bad, so I suppose he would be Bc8 then. Wink

Funny how the mind wanders sometimes...

While waiting for the bus it suddenly occurred to me that chess is perhaps the only human endeavour where no one would care if the queen is naked, while if the king is, that's very interesting! :))

Then somehow that led to the idea of replacing the pieces with famous people (or perhaps movie characters or whatever), in one 'good' team and one 'bad' team.

For example, white king = Elvis, of course, and just as natural is black king = Johnny Cash (that "Cash is king" is already known worldwide ;). Though it might be better with kings who are still alive, but then I have no idea who should be who?!

The rest of the pieces and pawns are not so obvious, so feel free to suggest your own line ups! Maybe white Q could be Angelina Jolie and black Q Paris Hilton?

And if then all squares would be replaced by places the particular celebs go to, instead of the usual dry notation, our new chess notation would wreak havoc in online searches! As well as end up telling some kind of meta story...  :))

For example: white 0-0 = Elvis goes to Graceland, 0-0-0 = Elvis goes to Memphis, Ke2-e1 = Elvis goes home etc...

...Qd5 = Paris Hilton goes to rehab, e4 = gets drunk at New York party, e5 = the Oscars, d4 = Beverly Hills, h8=jail etc.

Well, just a silly idea, feel free to move it to chit chat... :)
