just checked about ...Nb6  - yes that was a crazy game! The engine says Black is completely winning although care required to be sure as proved in the game.

At an admittedly quick look I thought 11. d5 unlikely to be a problem (there's also 11...Nb6, played in a game between a couple of 2490 players in which Black appeared to be winning).

8. 0-0 looks pretty innocuous.  NCO (Emms):  8...Qc7 9. Re1 Bd6 10. Bg5 Nbd7 with equality.

11.d5!? must be worth a look there, although maybe after simple 11...cxd5 none of the tricky stuff is working.

How is 8..Qc7 followed by 9..Bd6 and a quick ..0-0.
Nothing stunning, but Re1 not looking a huge problem.

Hey all, if this has been addressed in the forum already, I apologize. I've recently been experimenting with the Scandi, and at least in blitz, liking the results. (I'm an Alekhine devotee first though!)

On FICS and a couple of other sites, I'm seeing this often:
1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qa5 4. d4 Nf6 5. Nf3 c6 6. Bc4 Bf5 7. Bd2 e6 8.O-O?

Houska's book looks at 8. Qe2 and 8. Ne4.

I'm not very strong, but white's intentions don't seem friendly, with Re1 on the way and pressure down the e-file.  Just curious what Scandi practitioners do here.

I've tried a few things: 8 ... Qc7  8. ... Nbd7  8. ... Be7 (I don't like this because of 9. Nd5 Qd8 10. Nxe7 Qxe7 11. Re1  Embarrassed  which may not be the end of the world, but it seems the queen is using far too many tempos and will use even more to get off the e-file.) 8. ... Bb4 and 8. ... Bg4.

My house isn't database friendly right now, of course I would have checked there first...

Thanks guys ... Smiley
