My style of Play is close to that of the universal player; I love it all, messy, strategic, quiet, and attacking positions.

Then you can play any defence you like.
Btw I always found it harder to find a satisfactory defence against 1.e4 too.

This is exactly my problem. I guess it really comes down to choosing between the french and the Sicilian. Maybe, I'll just play both.

That's a good idea. Against 1.e4 e6 2.Nf3 and 2.Nc3 you can then play 2...c5  Wink

I enjoy doing this very thing.  Smiley

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

What kind of Dutch?

BTW, it has been my experience that most people have the exact opposite problem...that is, finding a defense to 1.d4Smiley

I am entrapped  by the Dutch and the benoni(czech and modern). The conundrum resides with which defense to choose against 1..e4.  I can't choose. My style of Play is close to that of the universal player; I love it all, messy, strategic, quiet, and attacking positions. What should I choose?
