This is really amazing !

Preferring to cope with the symmetrical english in order to avoid straightforward stuff like the benoni, the benko, the grunfeld...

From the frying pan into the core of hell, I'd say !

I'd say it's a matter of taste.

PS. He also mentioned the Nimzo.

I forgot to mention, ...g6 is not so bad after 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 d4 3.g3.  Smiley

Markovich and Raja, you both could change the spelling by editing the title of the thread.

Why? Lots of people have a move odor problem, why not be frank about it?

Thanks....I like Nf3 because it avoids Gruenfeld,Benoni,Benko,Queens Indian,Nimzo Indian,Bogo Indian for that the price i pay is learning symmetrical English and few other openings which i believe are easier to play than those which 1.Nf3 avoids. Smiley yeah i am not sophisticated but with experience and playing lot of games in this line i belive that i can reach that sophisticated level. Smiley
Note: sorry for wrong spelling! and wrong section Sad i was in a hurry to post Embarrassed

Interesting subject, but is it spelled correctly?  The way I play, it's usually a move odor problem.

This really does belong in 1.d4, and if it lasts any length of time, I'll move it there.  But 1.Nf3 d5 2.d4 g6?! should not have confused you.  3.c4 and White has a superior QG (or superior Gruenfeld in case of 3...Nf6 4.cxd4). With problems like this, I suggest you should be playing more straightforward chess.  The 1.Nf3 path to the QG is useful only for sophisticated players.

Shouldn't this be under 1.d4 d5?

As a rule of thumb, it's rare for Black to fianchetto his dark squared bishop after playing 1.d4 d5, since Black often wants to eventually break in the centre with ...c5, and he can't bring his bishop to g7 without playing ...c6 first to secure his centre. Even then, Black's position is very passive after say 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3 g6 5.Bg5 Bg7 6.e3 because he can't get in ...c5 easily and ...e5 is also difficult to achieve.

1. Nf3 d5 2. d4 g6 3. c4
What's the problem?
3...Nf6 4. cxd5 Nxd5 5. e4 Nb6 6. Nc3 is a nice grunfeld for White Smiley
On 3...c6 4. Nc3 you have a grunfeld-slav hybrid, playable with a queenside attack
On 3...dxc4 4. e3 a good QGA for White (g6 isn't so useful in this position)

That is not the problem! problem is 3...Bg7 cxd5 4.Nf6 and now white does not have any waiting move  Sad if Nc3 then the gruenfeld.

As far as I know 6. h3 is standard in that first line.
2...g6 looks to be acquiescing to "plus-over-equals" on move two.
