After 4.d4 you probably mean 4... exd4 5.0-0 Nxe4 6.Re1 d5 7.Bxd5 which is generally regarded as equal by theory. Here 5.e5 is an alternative.

Perhaps 4.Ng5 is not a bad choice since like the Evans it is the most ambitious possibility for White. Of course play is different from gambiting yourself but your are not forced to play passive here. To become a good player you have to be flexible and cannot expect to play always in gambit fashion yourself.

Yes of course you are right about having to be flexible. But I thought maybe there is some variation I missed ...
I like to play aggressive chess, activity is EVERYTHING in chess, you can only win with active pieces.
Is there a good book for white on 4.Ng5 ?

4...Nxe4 is dubious after 4. d4; you are presumably thinking of 4...ed 5. 0-0 (5. e5 is a major alternative) Nxe4.

Yes of course, sorry I missed to add 4. ..exd  Lips Sealed

I corrected it thanks!

C56-C59: Aggressive white play against 2 Knights

Hello chessfriends!

I want to play the Italian game with white against 1. ...e5.
Against 3. ...Bc5 I want to play the Evans Gambit, but I do not know how to play against the Two Knights Defence.
Here are my first impressions for white, but I have to say, I do not know theory here well so it can be that I am wrong

4.Ng5 is interesting, but a lot of theory and usually I do not like playing with a pawn up and defending, I like to play Gambits myself more

4.d3 seems maybe too calm for me, It is like a Ruy Lopez (at least the variations with white playing c3)

4.d4 looks interesting, but I really do not like this variation for white:
4. ...exd4 5.00 Nxe4 6.Re1 d5 7.Bxd5 etc ( I think this is called Anti Max Lange?)
It seems to me that in this variation black has all the fun if he knows his stuff Sad

I am searching for an aggressive way to play, even if I have to sacrifice a pawn

I appreciate all tips Smiley

Thanks for your help
