Dear slughouse,
There's some coverage of this line in NIC Yearbook 81 (02006) by Olthof, covering
- Euwe - Sonnenberg, Amsterdam 1931,
- Bellon Lopez - Johannessen, Stockholm 2005/06,
- Mikhalevski - Bareev, Turin ol 2006,
- Elianov - Rodshtein, Ashdod 2004,
- Muhammad - Khachian, Lindsborg 2004,
- Schmidt - Stahlberg, Pärnu 1937, and
- Chiburdanidze - Atalik-Polovnikova, Krasnoturinsk 2004, plus some game fragments, together appr. 2 1/2 pages of analyses.
According to my database, Olthof's prediction of "a rise in popularity of the odd-looking move 8.Qd2" has become true, as there are 34 games played after 02006, all of them by rated players, White's scoring 62 % (according to my updated Megabase 2011). So the question mark after 8.Qd2 might be a little misplaced

.
I hope my reply is of some benefit for you!
Best regards from
