If this continues much longer, this thread will be severely pruned.

I was replying to the post at the top, who is located in Toulouse, trying to figure out when the book will arrive for him, his pre-order status on Amazon, and when the book has been published, so I did not randomly start to discuss ordering times. I did not know that talking about publication or delivery times of a book would be odd when the title of the book is the title of the thread itself.

I am unsure what "You win" means. Do I win the right to talk about the delivery times of the book? But that already existed as far as I understood. And the post who first started the post about delivery times and Amazon is a moderator.

Order. Wait.
I ordered from NIC. That is in the Netherlands. I live in Japan. I will have to wait.
You claim to be a student. Shouldn't you be studying rather than writing here so much...?

No, actually:
You win.

It would be beneficial. We are trying to understand how to purchase this book--so we that we can receive the book and discuss it here. We cannot discuss the book unless we find out more publication details to purchase it. Apparently those in the Netherlands can buy it immediately, I suppose other areas will have to wait for a short while.

And is not quality control an engineering topic? Smiley

The post is about the book. I would think that means the physical dimensions and characteristics of the books, as well as the shipping, delivery process and anything related to the book. I would think it would be useful to discuss how to buy the book, so that those same people can buy the book and then discuss the book here... Smiley

Aaaaaagh.

Quality control?

"Everyone has a book inside them, which is exactly where I think it should, in most cases, remain."
Chris Hitchens

Just because one is able to write, does not mean one has to, or that it would be beneficial to do so.

Brevity, quality over quantity.

Agree with Dom.
Incredible amount that people can post about a book that they don't have yet, and about postage.
And I am adding to it. Aaaaaagh.

The post is about the book, so delivery of this book should also be considered in this forum. I pre-ordered from London Chess Centre yesterday, and in the confirmation of my order, I was e-mailed, where this is the main part of the e-mail:

You have ordered this book from our 'coming soon' section and is not yet in stock. The book has just been published and is on its way to us from the publisher but may not be here until early next week as soon as I have it I shall send the book to you...

So I suppose the Netherlands received the book first last week, and the UK and rest of EU countries should receive it soon.

@Gilchrist: web site is www.amazon.com (where I have an account on web site...maybe I am/was naive to believe that it exists only one worldwide Amazon company).

PS: sorry but I will stop this little chat about this delivery..spamming too much chesspub forum about no-chess information. I will post only when I will get the book.

For example, De Beste Zet, the chess book centre in the Netherlands has the book: http://www.debestezet.nl/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=81&products_id=2148 with the notice at the bottom of the webpage:

Dit artikel is op vrijdag, 18 mei 2012 toegevoegd.

So last week the book must have been published.

@Gilchrist:  Sad ...now I don't understand what "Pre-order" means for Amazon

Did you order through Amazon France (amazon.fr)? I do not understand the dates that Amazon give, but as far as I know, this book has already been published by New In Chess.

I am not sure, because I order my books from usually those three online centres: London Chess Centre, Chess Direct, or New In Chess. If I remember correctly, Modern French has been on the "What's new" section of NIC website since last Friday. So that obviously means it has been published.

???

New In Chess already published the book:

http://www.newinchess.com/Shop/

http://www.ukgamesshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=lcc&Cat...

http://chessdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Pre-order_Forthcoming_Books.html#an1399

It is in the new section. And London Chess Centre have it listed as May 2012.

I ordered three books (partly or fully about French Defence) two weeks ago via Amazon.

Amazon sent me back email for warning of two posts:

- Delivery estimate: June 14, 2012 - July 16, 2012
1      "French Defence Reloaded"
Vitiugov, Nikita; Paperback; $31.95
In Stock  Sold by: chessbooksfromeurope

=> I got it three days ago  .... quick delivery!
=> maybe not so much time to travel from southeast Europe to southwest France

- Delivery estimate: July 13, 2012 - Aug. 2, 2012
1      "A Rock-Solid Chess Opening Repertoire for Black" Eingorn, Viacheslav; Paperback; $14.37
In Stock
   Sold by: Amazon.com
1      "The Modern French: A Complete Guide for Black" Antic, Dejan; Paperback; $19.77
Available for Pre-order
   Sold by: Amazon.com

=> I will got first book soon (got an email today about it)
  => because "in stock"
=> slowly development from the rock solid Fort Knox (?) ... 1 week more for travel

But...for second book...I assume you (and me) have to wait next July 2012 to get it. If "pre-order" meaning "not printed yet but soon".

I did'nt pre-order Watson's PTF next book (sorry John  Smiley ) because I couldn't do same process (pre-ordering) on Amazon.
